JCSU Class of 1954 South-Atlantic 8th RD (1982 - 1986) 20th National President (1992 - 1996) Education activist, founded the Africana Studies program at UNC Charlotte and co-founded the Afro-American Cultural Center (today the Harvey B. Gantt Center). Former VP of Administrative Affairs & Planning at JCSU.

Jeanne Brayboy

Civil rights and education activist. One of the first African American teachers to integrate Charlotte-Mecklenburg Public Schools and spent a sum of 40 years dedicated to its development. Married to late Dr. Jack Brayboy who was an adminIstrator at JCSU.

Dorothy "Dot" Counts-Scoggins

JCSU Class 1964 One of first African American students admitted to Harry Harding High. Former VP of Quality Initiatives at Child Care Resources, Inc. and among the 12 honorees of AT&T's first Heritage Calendar: Celebrating the NC African American Experience.

Christy Bryant

JCSU Class of 1975 Committed to breaking Ceiling for Minority Women. Retired in 2010 after 34 years as a Senior VP with Bank of America. Has earned a Six Sigma Black Belt and Professional Project Manager (PMP®) Certification. Currently, serves as Wells Fargo VP of Corporate Credit, Regulatory Credit Capital Oversight and National Secretary of Urban Financial Services Coalition.

It is with a heavy heart that the Gamma Lambda Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated shares the passing of our beloved Gamma Lambda Soror, an alumna of Johnson C. Smith University, and the Past 20th National President, Dr. Bertha Maxwell-Roddey. We thank Soror Roddey for her continued support and dedication over the years and offer our deepest condolences to her family.
